Today's Goal

I've been spending too much time in bed again. Watching TV, reading your blogs, checking facebook over and over and over......I'm stressed, and when that happens I tend to shut down. So today's goal is to stay out of my bed all day. Maybe I will actually get something done today.

Daily Goal Tuesday

I did my 4 miles on the treadmill. :) I ran 3.1 at 5.5 mph, then walked at 4.0 for .4 miles, ran at 5.5 mph for .25 miles, walked at 4.0 for .15 miles and ran the rest at 6.0 mph. Whew! With the warm up and cool down I made it 4.45 miles. Woo Hoo!

Also, My 5k time was 34:00! My best time this year!

I'm running another 5k on Sunday up in Park City for the 4th of July, so I won't be running anymore this week. I'm going to swim laps tonight and then Zumba tomorrow!

Lunch was yummy! Brown rice and steamed broccoli with a cut up Boca Chik'n patty, tossed in a little bit of Annie's goddess dressing. Super filling and I felt really good about it.

Facepalm...

I just registered for a 10k. It's on July 24th. This year. Eek! I think I'll go run now.

Bad food and a 5k!

Let's rewind to Friday. My goal was to eat a good healthy pasta dinner and get a good night sleep. Well. FAIL! Let me explain. Earlier in the week, my aunt called to see if I wanted to do some work landscaping with her. Because I am jobless I said yes. Then she said I had to be there at 5:30 on Friday morning. AM! A morning person ≠ me. Well, Thursday night Russ I went up to Heber for our horse club practice. We didn't get home until 2 in the morning! That meant I had to do some pretty heavy landscaping duty on 3 hours of sleep. Sigh. I got home at 2, decided a nap might not be the best idea so I stayed awake until Russell's brother's birthday dinner. Where did we go? Pasta? Nope. Goodwood Barbecue. (I don't know if I have mentioned this yet, but since I have been doing the VBD thing, I can't eat beef. Sad, really, cause I LOVE a good steak, brisket or pot roast.) There wasn't anything on the menu that I wanted to eat, so I settled on a turkey sandwich, no mayo. It was ok, but it wasn't the pasta dinner I was looking forward to. I also wanted to get a good nights sleep and I did go to bed at 10:30, but with the lack of sleep the night before (And the heavy duty yard work) took its toll, and I was pretty tired on race day.

Race Day!!

See Sam's post for the pictures! I was really hoping to beat my best time ever which is 33 something, but it wasn't in the cards. My finish time was 34:50. I was feeling a little down on myself and then I realized that it was my best time this year and I have only been running for about 2 months where last year I trained for 6 months before my first 5k. I still want to get under 30 minutes and I know I can! I'm running another 5k on Sunday and hopefully this time I will be rested! Here's to 32 minutes!

Bad food weekend:

Egg white omelet = Good
Egg white omelet drowning in butter = Bad

Date night with the hubby = Good
Cheese enchiladas = bad

I didn't follow the VBD at all this weekend (Or today) and I feel like CRAP! I love that my body now tells me to stay away from no-no foods. Honestly, those cheese enchiladas were just way too much and made me really really sick. I don't want to feel like that again, so I won't eat like that again.

Tomorrow's goal: 4 miles on the boring boring treadmill. I've got to make it to a 10k by Sam's birthday!

PS Saturday was Sam's first 5k ever and she ROCKED it! I am SO SO proud of her!

First I'll huff, then I'll puff, and I'll go over there to get my heart rate down!

Yesterdays goal was to get up early and get cardio in before my Muscle Buster class. I shouldn't have bothered with the cardio. :) I did 20 minutes on the elliptical and made my way to the studio. This was the first time I have gone to this class so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. Turns out it wasn't going to be the regular class. We were going to mix it up a bit. We went outside to the baseball diamonds to workout on the bleachers. Here's what we did:

This is a very beautiful and accurate drawing of the bleachers. The purple line is our pathway.
There were only about 8 stairs in each stairway.

Warm up:
Walk the bleachers.

Work out:
Run up the stairs, walk down, run to the next staircase. Complete the circuit twice.
Lunges on the bleachers
Run up the stairs, skipping one step, walk down the stairs. Complete the circuit twice.
Calf lifts on the bleachers
Run up the stairs sideways, walk down. We went around once, then it again with the other leg.
Squats on the bleachers.
Stairs again.
Push ups on the bleachers.
Stairs again.
Dips on the bleachers.
Run back to the Studio.
Abs on stability balls with weights.

Oh man! Can we say cardio? Running those stairs was killer! My heart rate was up up up the whole time and my legs were Jell-o. I actually couldn't make it all the way through some of the runs cause my heart rate was so high. I can't wait to try again. I think this is the cardio I need. I'm going to head over to the high school next week a couple times to work on this.

My 5k race is on Saturday! I'm getting excited. :) I think I'm getting sick though, so I am doing all I can to keep that bug from hitting too hard. I'm going to shoot for a time better then 33 minutes. I can totally do that! Right? Of course, right.

Walmart has these great Danskin workout tanks and t-shirts for $4! I bought 3...white, pink and blue. Yay for new workout clothes.

Tomorrow's Goal: Eat a good healthy pasta dinner and go to bed early so I can be all that I can be for my race.

Don't forget the Blog Hop hosted by Lucy!

I'm still here!

I spent the weekend with my husband and our friends at my parents house in Heber. It was a beautiful weekend and I was sad to come home. Friday night we went to Cafe Galleria in Midway and had the best pizza (Goat cheese and roasted pepper pizza with a pear and gorgonzola cheese salad) The weather on the patio was perfect, there was live music, good food and great company. Then we went back to my parents house and had a fire in the backyard, talked, watched the stars, then went to bed. Saturday, Sam woke me up by throwing a pillow at me. :P We sent the boys back to Cafe Galleria for fresh baked bagels. So good, but can we say carb overload? Then we went to Sundance and hiked to Stewart Falls. It was an easy hike and really pretty! There were a couple of steep hills so I really pushed myself to get and keep my heart rate up. After that was some fly fishing on the very crowded Provo River. (Father's day weekend = Lots of people fishin'.) Sunday was nice and relaxing. I was sad to come home.

I had a couple of "bad days" on Monday and Tuesday but I made myself go to the gym Tuesday night and it really really helped. Zumba today was most excellent and I killed my arms and abs. I hope I am sore tomorrow. :)

I got 3 cute workout tanks from Walmart today for $4 each! They had some great colors and they didn't have the shelf bra that never fits my big boobies.

I really need to get back to my daily goals so here goes:

Tomorrow's Goal: Get to the gym by 7:45 am so I can get in a cardio workout before the Muscle Buster class!

Random good quotes I found:
