What would you do here?

I missed a workout this week.

On Wednesday I made a conscious decision to move my running days from MWF to TTS.  This is not because I didn't want to run.  I was actually excited to run.  But without a running stroller I couldn't take K, and I didn't want to use the treadmill because a) I hate it and b) K has been really needy lately and I didn't think I could make it through a whole run with her on a blanket.  Wednesday nights I have Bells and don't get home until 11, so running at night is out too.  I do think the TTS will work better for me because I will have the option to run at night when Russ is home to watch the baby.  K loves our runs though, so I really just need to get my brother's stroller ready and at my house.  The mornings are starting to get cooler too, which I love.

Anyway, back to the missed workout.  The plan was to go running last night.  Then my little family went over to my mom's house for dinner and ended up eating really late which resulted in me not wanting to run on a full stomach.  So now I wonder.  Do I run today and Sunday and start Tuesday with week 5 of C25K or do I skip one workout and run on Saturday and start Week 5 on Tuesday?

What would you do?

Peanut Butter Cookie

So this post was going to be about My Fitness Pal but...Wow!  You know those runs that have you feeling unstoppable and energized when you get back?  For me those runs are few and far between.  Especially now that I am getting back into the swing of things after being pregnant.  Last week I felt like I was in the worst shape of my life (and I probably was) after trying to get through C25K week 3.  My run on Friday was pretty kucky.  (I was on vacation on the dreaded treadmill at the fitness center)  I was out of breath, my legs hurt, and my joints hurt.  So when I saw what this week's schedule looked like I was a little nervous.

5 Min Warm-up brisk walk
3 Min jog
90 Sec walk
5 Min jog
2.5 Min walk
3 Min jog
90 Sec walk
5 Min jog

I'll admit, those 5 minute jogs scared me a bit.  (Funny to think that a year and a half ago I could run 6 miles)  But, I got out there and I did it.  And I felt awesome!  Like I could have kept running when it was time to walk.  (But I didn't because I really want to follow this program and don't want to wear myself out or injure myself too soon.)  Yayayaya.

So I'll post about My Fitness Pal later.

Are you wondering why this blog post is titled Peanut Butter Cookie?  It's because I typed this whole post with a cookie sitting next to me.  It smells amazing.  It looks amazing.  And I know it tastes amazing because I ate two yesterday.  I'm not going to eat it.

Mish-Mash

I love green chiles.  I mean, really LOVE them.  This (SO not diet food) is one of my favorite potluck/appetizers to bring to parties.  It's such a crowd pleaser.  My husband makes cornbread using green chilies and Franks Buffalo sauce.  Yum!  I found a chile rellano casserole on Pinterest that uses 4 cans of green chiles and that was yummy too.
Recently I have started mixing a spoonful into my scrambled eggs.  I've also mixed them into plain pasta shells with a little bit of melted cheese (Fake mac and cheese).  It's a great way to add lots and lots of flavor with no guilt.

On another note, I got my run in today.  I am really liking the C25K program.  It pushes me without pushing me too hard.  So far I've had no injuries and minimal soreness.  I was planning on running outside with the jogging stroller, but when I came downstairs it was gone.  :(  Russ's cousin had been so generous to let us borrow it, but they aren't done with it yet and needed it back.  My brother has one that he is done with that I can use, so I just need to go get it.  I may end up just getting my own.  K and I went to the fitness center and I ran on the boring treadmill while she chilled in her carseat in front of the mirror.

Here's a recipe that I have made a few times in the last year.  (Have you figured out that Our Best Bites is my favorite recipe blog yet?  Cause it is!)  Cabbage is so good for you and you can add lots of yummy vegetables to really make it your own.

Have a great Wednesday!

They Say That Waking Up is Hard to Do...

I've started pretty slow with this whole workout-weight loss thing.  My only goal right now is to stay on track with the C25K program.  (I'm on workout 1 of week 3, thank you!)  Keeping up with it only requires 3 days a week.  Totally do-able.  However, the easiest time for me to run is in the morning, but by the time I have passed the "I'm so tired, how will I live through today" stage, it's already pretty hot outside.  Now, I'm not really making excuses, but, I do have an almost 5 month old who, though she sleeps really really well, wakes me up about 3 times a night.  It is amazing how much those small interruptions can mess up your sleep cycle.  So yeah, morning rolls around and I am tired!  I make excuses..but I know (especially on Wednesdays) that if I don't get that run in, it's not going to happen that day and then everything is screwed up.  Everything, I tell you!  I've gone to our little fitness center and run on the treadmill twice, but I don't love that because I have to put K on the floor with a blanket and she tends to fuss after about 20 minutes, (How lucky am I to get those 20 minutes though?) and I hate the treadmill.  I love running outside and K does great in the jogging stroller.  So I really just have to suck it up, wake up, and put on those running clothes.  Good thing it's going to start cooling down pretty soon.  Only 5 more weeks to go!

Hellllloooooo.....?

Are you there?
Did my poor little forsaken blog just jump to the top of your blog roll?
Did ya miss me? ;)

So much has happened in a year.
Wanna see?

That's right, I had a baby!
Wanna see another picture?
You do?
I finally went to see an infertility specialist and he was able to
diagnose me with PCOS in about 10 seconds.
With a little bit of scientific help we conceived!
K was born on March 28 of this year.

When I got pregnant I was scared that I would balloon up
so I made a goal that I wouldn't go above 200 lbs.
(My starting weight was 170.)
In the first trimester I actually lost weight and didn't gain any back until about 18 weeks.
My last weigh-in (the day I was induced due to mild pre-eclampsia) I weighed exactly 200 lbs.
When I was weighed at the Docs office, a week after K was born,
(I needed to check my blood pressure)
I weighed 170!
I was able to wear my pre-pregnancy pants.  I felt pretty good about how things were going.
I actually got down to 165, which is what I weighed in my first trimester.
Then due to low supply I stopped breast feeding.  My weight started to climb up again.
I'm now at 173.
So, here I start.
Again.

I would like to lose 40 lbs, but we're going to start with 20.
I learned women with PCOS tend to be insulin resistant so a low GI eating plan can be
beneficial in weight loss.
I've been working on that, but I haven't been very good.

Also, I have started running again.
I started the c25k program last week.  It's a bit of a slap in the face to know that a year and a half ago I could run 6 miles, but now I can barely run for 90 seconds.
But, I guess after not working out for a year
(I didn't want to do anything that would cause me to blame myself if I miscarried)
you have to start somewhere.
I'm okay with starting slow.
I don't want any injuries.  Shin splints suck.

So, here we go.
I see lots of green lights ahead.
I have a beautiful baby girl.
I have a clean house that I love.
(A messy house was always the cause of so much stress, remember?)
I have a great support system.

Send me a note?
Let me know you're still here?
Tell your friends?

I'm back, baby!
